Shadowcrawler

Теневой убийца

Coup de Ombrepassive, single target

Shadowcrawler's basic attacks have a 20% chance to land a heavy blow with a 300% / 400% / 500% damage multiplier, and it also has a 50% chance to evade ability damage.

Role: a pricey melee killer and the main damage dealer in Assassin boards — it leaps into the enemy back line and shreds squishy targets with big hits. The evasion against spell damage makes it surprisingly durable versus caster comps. Fits Feathered and Assassin synergies.

Synergies

Feathered · species
Synergy effect: (3) Evasion of allied Feathered pieces +25%. (6) Evasion of allied Feathered pieces +55%. (9) Evasion of allied Feathered pieces +55%. After an evasion triggers, the piece becomes invisible for 1 second and creates a phantom of the attacker that lasts 7 seconds; the trigger interval is 5 seconds. Illusion: inherits 100% of the original piece's attack and takes 100% damage, but does not inherit the skill, synergies, items or non-base stat bonuses (for example, the bonus attack from Avenge Knight's ability). Each piece can have only one illusion at a time. Illusions do not create illusions themselves.
How to play
Feathered is protection from physical damage through evasion: (3) is built from cheap heroes in the first rounds, and (6) in the mid game makes enemy fighters and shooters miss again and again. Evasion does not help against magic damage, so Feathered is complemented with other protection. (9) is a rare late build where every evasion also hides the piece and adds an illusion to the board.

Assassin · class
Synergy effect: (3) Allied Assassins have a 20% chance to deal 300% damage with their basic attacks. (6) Allied Assassins have a 20% chance to deal 400% damage with their basic attacks. (9) After an allied Assassin kills a target, it gains one extra jump and its next attack is a guaranteed critical hit. Class trait: at the start of the battle, Assassins jump into the enemy back line and land a guaranteed critical hit with their first basic attack; the crit multiplier is taken from the highest active synergy tier. The effects of multiple synergy tiers stack: the critical chance is rolled for each tier, while the damage uses the highest multiplier.
How to play
Assassins are a back-line damage class: at the start of the battle they jump onto the enemy pieces in the back and land a guaranteed critical hit, and from (3) their regular attacks crit often. (6) raises the multiplier noticeably, and (9) grants extra jumps and guaranteed crits after every kill, turning Assassins into a chain-killing machine. The class is wide: cheap heroes let you reach (3) early, but the strongest Assassins are expensive, so (6) and especially (9) belong to the mid and late game. Assassins work best when someone else holds the front while they finish off vulnerable mages and archers.

Lore

hero story

I

Je was chosen for the Watchman squad for her great performance. The Watchman leader didn't give her much time to get used to battle before assigning an important mission to her. Some important books of the Druid Church were stolen, and the Feathered Prophet used a special spell to lock onto the thief, who turned out to be a human. The thief had hidden among the traveling merchants of the Feather Forest and happened to pass by the place where the books were stored. After stealing the books, he hid among the merchants once more and left the Feather Forest. Je's mission was to find back the stolen Druid books and execute the despicable thief, ensuring the dignity of the Feathered was not trampled on. This was the first time Je left the forest to the outside world. To avoid attention, Je hid in the daytime and came out at night to walk through the wild to the target town. The human merchant was easy to find. He was the richest man in the target town living in the most eye-catching exquisite manor with guards and hounds patrolling back and forth, which made it difficult for Je to sneak in.

II

"The best sneak is that there is no witness." Je fiddled with a dagger watching the well-lighted manor and came up with a great way to "sneak in". Clapping her hand, Je inserted the two blades back into the scabbard in her waist, breathed a sigh of relief, and whistled to the guards piled up behind her. "It's not that difficult." Seeing the silent manor while all guards passed out, Je was quite satisfied. Swaggering to the door of the manor's only study room with lights on, Je even knocked, preparing to cut his throat with a dagger as soon as the thief opened the door. Clean and neat, and draw a perfect period to her first mission. But this did not develop as Je imagined. A calm response came from the study: "Come in." "Damn thief, putting on an act, I will scare the hell out of you after entering." Je pulled out the two daggers with disdain and kicked open the solid wood door of the study.

III

★ The owner in the room was so surprised that he broke his quill without realizing that. The thief sat behind the desk, not exactly a fierce brawny man like Je imagined. A well-dressed handsome young man, looked nothing alike the thief stealing books from the Druid Church. After looking around, Je confirmed that the young gentleman was the thief because the Druid books were right on his desk. "This beautiful lady, I'm just for the academic research. I didn't intend to steal and the books will be returned after I finish studying the great Druid history." The young gentleman sounded sincere, and he handed the books with both hands. Je reached out and took the books, without seeing the coldness under his eyes. The blade flashed and the shadow drifted away slowly. Je showed up half a meter away, and then the thief's hideous expression was seen clearly. Je was angry, not because she was deceived by the despicable thief, but she hesitated for a moment. Rule No.1 of the Watchman: No Mercy Allowed Je remembered this rule deeply when slitting the thief's throat.
