"Sister Rabbit! Bad news!" A group of Beast kids ran to Waner in a panic.
Waner's two long feathers above her head trembled, like the long ears of a rabbit.
Those who can't tell the Beast from the Feathered in the forest often called Waner "Sister Rabbit."
Waner shook her head: "I'm not a rabbit... What happened?"
It turned out a Dwarf mother and daughter were being attacked by beasts. Waner heard the news and rushed there.
She observed the beasts attacking the Dwarves from a tree not far away and shot several arrows to warn them.
Usually, the beasts would run away. But this time, they looked in Waner's direction and turned back to stare at the mother and daughter.
"Sister Rabbit! Look over there!" The Beast kid next to Waner suddenly saw something and pointed to the tent not far away from the mother and daughter.
There was a cage with a beast cub next to the tent. Waner looked at the cage and then the silent mother and daughter, and suddenly she came to realize something.
Waner yelled at the mother and daughter: "Let go of the cub you caught! Otherwise, they won't leave."
The mother hesitated and then opened the cage.
As expected, after confirming that the cub was not injured, the beasts growled towards the mother and daughter and finally left.

Waner picked some fruit and ran to the mother and daughter. She handed the fruit to the two, asking: "Are you hungry?"
But the mother and daughter kept staring at Waner, without saying a word or accepting the fruit, even though their stomachs groaned and everyone present heard that clearly.
Waner shook her head, put the fruit on the stone table next to her, and left.
Waner was a bit mad at first. If she hadn't arrived in time, the mother and daughter could have been injured or even killed.
Waner helped them but they stared at her like she was some monster.
"How rude!" Waner concluded in her mind.
After leaving, Waner was still worried. Leaving the mother and daughter wandering in the forest felt like a violation of her duty as a forest guardian.
After ruminating for a while, Waner decided to check on them.
When she came to the Dwarf mother and daughter again, they still stared at Waner vigilantly, saying nothing.
Waner shook her head, left the fruit she prepared, and turned away.
"Big sister!" The girl behind her mother suddenly shouted to Waner, "Thank you!"
Waner stopped and waved her hand towards the mother and daughter.
The girl was still behind her mother, but she reached out her hand and waved to Waner as well.
Out of a sudden Waner decided that they were not that bad.

Going back and forth, the mother and daughter finally stopped being afraid of Waner, and told her their story.
The Dwarf mother and daughter had lived in poverty from the beginning. Later, the Goblins began to resist with the support of the Demons, and the Dwarves were severely hit and driven out of their home.
Even though the mother and daughter had almost nothing left, they were still forced to leave.
On the second day, Waner brought more fruit.
There were more and more Dwarf refugees in the forest. After seeing this, Warpwood Sage helped the Dwarves build a "Holy Lake Camp."
Waner told the mother and daughter about it, and when they learned of it, they decided to live there.
Before they left, Waner came to see them off.
"By the way, Waner, we left you something in the tent." The mother told Waner, "We really appreciate you, so we decided to give you a gift."
Waner was taken aback: "A gift for me?"
The girl nodded: "Yes! It's from me and my mom, for Sister Rabbit. You will definitely love it!"
"O-okay!" Waner couldn't bear to reject her "friends."
"We are leaving. Thank you and goodbye!" With that, the mother took her daughter's hand and left.
"Live a happy life!" Waner said to the mother and daughter. The little girl waved to Waner, then turned away to walk into the forest with her mother.
Waner stood there for a while, and then turned to the tent where they had lived before.
A rune mechanical crossbow was lying quietly on the stone table.
A line of small words was written on its body:
"To my favorite forest guardian, the future warrior, Sister Rabbit."
