Take Controlactive, affects self

at the start of the battle Grand Herald picks a random enemy piece and copies its active abilities along with its attack range. The copied ability scales with Grand Herald's own star level and is re-rolled when you lose a home round or upgrade pieces' star levels.

Role: an unpredictable ranged support for the back line — what he actually does depends on the enemy board. He works as a flexible filler for Divinity and Wizard synergies through the mid game.

Synergies

Divinity · species
Synergy effect: (2) Ability cooldown of allied pieces is reduced by 30%. (4) Ability cooldown of allied pieces is reduced by 30%. (6) Mana-based abilities reduce the current remaining cooldown of your active abilities and active equipment by 50%. Effects of several active thresholds stack together.
How to play
Divinity speeds up ability cooldowns for the whole board: (2) already makes your heroes cast noticeably more often, and (4) stacks with the first threshold and makes the difference very tangible. The thresholds are covered by heroes of different costs, so the core comes together in the mid game and (6) with the expensive pieces closer to the end, when every ability cast additionally refreshes active abilities and equipment. The synergy shines most with heroes whose fights are decided by abilities rather than auto-attacks.
God of WarGoddess of LightKhanGod of ThunderPrimal Whisper
Wizard · class
Synergy effect: (2) Synergies that already have 3 or more pieces count as one piece more (2 stays 2): 5 Mages + 2 Wizards = 6 Mages, 3 Half-Orcs = 4. This also applies to Wizards themselves, but not to Druids. (4) Activating a synergy requires 1 fewer piece; the board must contain at least 4 unique pieces. If a placed piece has only one active race or class synergy (not counting the Wizard synergy), the highest tier of that synergy is activated immediately. Class trait: Wizards are never a priority target for the enemy. The Wizard synergy effect does not apply to Druids.
How to play
Wizards are an amplifier for other synergies: (2) adds one piece to every synergy that already has three or more pieces, and (4) lowers the threshold requirements and can unlock the top tier right away. Wizards themselves are never a priority target, so they survive easily. There are few heroes: the cheap ones let you assemble (2) early, while (4) belongs to the mid and late game. The synergy is especially valuable for compositions that are one piece short of the next threshold; it does not apply to Druids.

hero story

I

The Hammer Harbor was shrouded in noise all day long with hawking of vendors, cracking of coins, and shouts. Hermes liked the vitality there. He walked around the market every day and disguised himself as different faces to check whether the vendors were doing business properly. As the guardian god of the Hammer Harbor, the symbol of majesty, Hermes often needed to uphold justice for the Dwarves. God's duty was to bring order to all living beings, and as the God of Commerce, Hermes' order had three main points: fairness, fairness, and fairness. Hermes was very happy to provide a helping hand, even for some trifles. To sum up, it was mainly about two things: The first was to check the daily bills sent by the port merchants and pay attention to every transaction in the Hammer Harbor. The second was to secretly guide the Hammer Harbor, gradually developing a fair order. In addition to these, in his leisure time, Hermes would study magic in the palace built for him by the Dwarves. For Hermes, all kinds of unknown magics were like a cave full of treasures waiting for him to discover. It was also his chance to have a good rest. However, there was not much time for him to study quietly. The Dwarves always came with all kinds of troubles. For example, today, a "trivial incident" happened that put his fairness and order in jeopardy.

II

A blue-haired Dwarf asked Hermes for help - he claimed that he had been deceived by hateful Goblins, and his life was in danger. The Dwarf borrowed a lot of money from a Goblin lender to help his friend set up a factory. The Goblin lender took the opportunity to retaliate because the blue-haired Dwarf didn't charge interest for lending money, which harmed the Goblins' business. Besides, the lender was once a slave of the Dwarves, so he was hostile toward them. Induced by the Goblins, the Dwarf signed a demon contract with him: if the money was not paid off in three months, one pound of meat would be cut from the Dwarf to pay the debt. Since the Goblins controlled the supply of raw materials, the factory opened by the Dwarf's friend was unable to make a profit and couldn't repay the money as specified. As a result, the Goblin lender went to the commercial court to sue the Dwarf for breach of contract, and he requested the Dwarf to fulfill the contract by cutting off a pound of meat from him. Hermes was in a dilemma. The Hammer Harbor never advocated the use of life as capital, which was what demons would do, and more importantly, it did not comply with the principle of fairness to repay debts with life. On the other hand, since it was a "voluntary" contract, it should be honored. This was also something one should insist on based on fairness. The Hammer Harbor prospered because it insisted on fairness. "What should I do?" This made Hermes hesitate for a while.

III

The two parties were at each other's throats in court, and Hermes thought of a perfect way, which would not only free the Dwarf from the life threat, but also maintain the openness and freedom of the Hammer Harbor. Hermes agreed to the Goblin's request, but he then proposed that the meat cut from the Dwarf must be exactly one pound, no more or less, and the Dwarf could not bleed. The blood was not included in the contract. If something went wrong in the performance of the contract, the Goblin would be deemed to be in breach of contract. The Goblin went numb. He held a sharp knife back and forth over the Dwarf, but did not dare to do it. In the end, he had to give up and withdraw the complaint, and re-arrange the repayment schedule with the Dwarf. "What a great idea!" Seeing the Dwarf weeping with joy and expressing his gratitude again and again, Hermes waved his hand to signal the adjournment, happy in his heart. "Fairness, fairness, and the most important thing is fairness." Hermes rubbed his head, turned around with a satisfied smile, and the order of the Hammer Harbor was kept further.
