Unicorn

Единорог

Charmpassive, single target

enemies that attack Unicorn or allies next to it (within 160) lose 20% / 30% / 40% attack speed for 3 s. The slow pierces immunity.

Role: a cheap early-game support and a handy filler for three synergies at once — Beast, Half-Orc and Druid. The attack-speed slow works on its own, so stand it beside the units you want protected while keeping it out of the thickest fighting, since its HP pool is small.

Synergies

Beast · species
Synergy effect: (2) Allied attack +10%. (4) Allied attack +35%. (6) Allied attack +35%. When dealing physical damage, applies 10% physical vulnerability to enemy pieces, up to 10 stacks. Physical vulnerability: all physical damage taken is increased. Beast synergy effects can be inherited by summoned units.
How to play
Beast is a straight attack boost for the whole board. Three heroes at 1 gold reach (2) in the first rounds, and (4) with its solid attack increase comes together in the mid game with mid-cost heroes. (6) needs the expensive pieces and adds physical vulnerability, so your fighters and shooters hit harder and harder as the fight goes on. Since the bonuses are inherited by summons, the synergy pairs well with any heroes that call creatures.

Half-Orc · species
Synergy effect: (2) When allied half-orcs enter combat, they charge at the target surrounded by the most enemy units. (4) When allied half-orcs enter combat, they charge at the target surrounded by the most enemy units. Every melee movement of allied pieces also triggers a charge. Charge: the piece immediately rushes to the target and stuns enemy units in its path for 1 second. It cannot be blocked during the charge.
How to play
Half-Orc is a synergy of initiation and control: at (2) your half-orcs dive straight into the thickest cluster of enemies, stunning everyone on the way and tying up the enemy back line. A pair of inexpensive heroes lets you switch the effect on early; (4) needs the expensive pieces and extends the charge to every move of your melee fighters, turning the whole board into a chain of stuns. The synergy works best with sturdy melee fighters that survive the jump into the crowd.

Druid · class
Synergy effect: (2) Upgrading a 1-star Druid requires 1 fewer piece. (4) Upgrading any Druid requires 1 fewer piece. (6) Having 2 identical 3-star Druids on the board upgrades them into a Super Strange Egg. It gains as many stacks of [Strange Power] as the cost of those 3-star Druids and destroys all remaining copies of those Druids in the shared piece pool. Each stack of [Strange Power] grants 10% damage reduction and a 10% damage bonus. Through the Strange Egg's ability [Soul Link], this effect is shared with allied Druids.
How to play
Druids are an economy synergy: they do not buff the fight directly but let you upgrade heroes faster, saving gold and slots. (2) already speeds up upgrading the Druids themselves, (4) removes the star restriction, and (6) is a late-game option where two identical three-star Druids merge into a Super Strange Egg with powerful buff stacks. Early Druids are cheap, so the synergy is easy to assemble at the start and helps preserve health in the first rounds; later it is either sold off or completed with the expensive heroes.

Lore

hero story

Unicorn — Guardian of the Forest Nobody Asked to Mess With They say Unicorn was once an ordinary forest fairy. Well, as ordinary as a girl with a horn, hooves, and a habit of talking to trees can be. She lived peacefully: growing flowers, feeding squirrels, scaring mushroom pickers, and charging dwarves three acorns to cross her meadow. Everything changed the day the armies of Autochess decided to build another chessboard right in the middle of her forest. Unicorn walked up to the builders and politely asked: “Did you get permission from the forest?” The builders laughed. Five minutes later, one of them was hugging a birch tree and crying, another was trying to convince a rock to become his best friend, and the third is still somewhere out there chasing a butterfly. Since then, Unicorn has personally joined Autochess battles to protect nature from its greatest threat — players who sell her on the first round for one gold. On the battlefield, she looks harmless. She smiles. Waves her hand. Birds land on her shoulders. Then she casts “Charm.” The enemy warrior forgets why he came. The assassin suddenly loses interest in attacking. The archer starts admiring the leaves. And the most sensitive chess pieces begin wondering: “Maybe… violence really isn’t the answer?” Usually, that brief moment is more than enough for Unicorn’s team to answer the question for them. Unicorn insists that none of this is magic. “You just have to be kinder to people.” Right after saying that, the nearest tree usually grabs an enemy by the roots and drags them into the bushes. Unicorn especially hates lumberjacks, arsonists, and players who say: “Why would I buy her? She’s just a one-cost unit.” She remembers those players. Forever. Unicorn’s greatest dream is to win one final match, return the whole world to nature, and turn the chessboard into one enormous flower garden. The only problem is that the other chess pieces seem strangely opposed to the idea. There is also a sign hanging near her home: “NOT A TREE. IT’S A DOOR. DO NOT KNOCK. THE SQUIRREL IS SLEEPING.” Purchase quote: “Only one gold? What an insultingly good deal.” Entering battle: “Who stepped on the grass again?!” After defeating an enemy: “Nature handled it.” When sold: “I remember your username.” At three stars: “I am now an ecological disaster.”
